Shining, shimmering, SPENDID!

An invitation to watch a much-loved Disney animation musical live on stage?

And if you didn’t have me at Disney, alone. Then I know my other experience with Disney on stage is strong with this monster musical.

One of my most memorable of all theatre experiences. Period.

So, how about Aladdin?

Well the 1992 film is an energetic and intense carpet ride. Dark in part due to the evil Jafar lingering around every dark corner but with thankful comedic reprieves from the Genie, the Legendary late Robin Williams.

The stage musical addition of Disney’s Aladdin began life in 2011 and has been performed around the globe, including a three year stint in The West End and also Broadway where it still dazzles audiences after a spectacular ten years.

And now the UK soil has their wishes granted again as Disney’s Aladdin is on a debut UK and Ireland tour and Half Pint and I flew along for the press night.

At the press event we sipped specially themed cocktails, the blue one (pictured below) was like a liquidised genie or a Lush bath bomb experiment, which was very unique.

Once suitably sparkling inside and out, we were seated in the auditorium and then the real magic begun.

Huge dance numbers, bright lights and bold colours made the most recognisable songs even larger than they ever could from streaming on Disney plus.

And Aladdin and Princess Jasmine were every part the perfectly imperfect Disney twosome.

Kid’s will adore Princess Jasmine, who walks, talks and sings like the elite tier Disney Princess she is.

But for me there was two someones who absolutely charmed the socks off of me and that was, the sparkling, shimmering GENIE and the dark, devilish Jafar!

The Genie has some big memorable shoes to make his own and he didn’t just own, he went and built his own freaking shoe factory.

Jafar was also brilliant and between the two of them, they expertly navigated the production into a true spectacle.

Come for the legend of Aladdin, stay for the bad guy AND the blue guy, take home with you the Disney magic that is right here for the taking, on our doorstep for the next three weeks!

If I had just one genie wish, it’d be that everyone could get the chance to see this magical show.

Disney’s Aladdin is at Milton Keynes Theatre Wednesday 24 April – Sunday 19 May

Tickets were kindly gifted by Milton Keynes Theatre but they have zero control over what I post, or say about the performance – that’s all me! Thank you for your support. 🖤
