Everybody’s Talking About This SHOW! 💃🏼💅🏻👑

Evening arrivals at the Theatre are now drenched in daylight, and whilst the light levels might be the norm for June, I tell ya what isn’t; having to put my heating on! 🥶

As Summertime approaches, we can cross our icy cold fingers that the better weather will soon come our way, but if not, at least we have the some fine indoor options. There is a big and beautiful selection of shows on across Milton Keynes and Bucks between now and Autumn. Not forgetting the vast amount of ice cream availability and the assurance that wasps are just not cultured enough to pose a threat, you know whatever the weather, it’s a win win.

And the big shows really do just keep on coming. Here this week at Milton Keynes Theatre is ‘the hit musical for today’ Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

Based on the real life story of Jamie Campbell, who documented their journey to becoming a Drag Queen and to share their true selves at their end of school Prom in the 2001 BBC documentary, Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 (available now on BBC iPlayer).

Jamie’s story was inspirational, in a really measurable sense too, as his story spread and has gone on to not only be adapted into a hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie which debuted in 2017 but also a motion picture of the same name, which premiered in 2021 on Amazon Prime.

And this week, the hit musical for today is on stage at Milton Keynes Theatre, all the highs and lows of the delicately handled material to a bopping soundtrack that had me bopping through the 2 hours 40 minutes in a click of the fingers (and a click of the heels), pausing only for Rebecca McKinnis to wrench my heart out with her bawl inducing performance of “He’s My Boy”.

Ivano Turco stars in the titular role embodied Jamie’s story in every way needed, fabulous, vulnerable, relatable and inspiring. That voice inside when following your dreams, Jamie just knows how to listen and speak with his more than most of us! Making for a wonderful and above all, real feel-good musical.

And can’t leave the performance credits without pointing out that Kevin Clifton stars (literally STARS, stars on stage, stars in my eyes) as Hugo/Loco Chanelle and was incredible.

And hell, let’s throw in that it is Pride month too. Do you need any more reasons to strut yourself up to Milton Keynes Theatre this week? Didn’t think so. 💅🏻

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is at Milton Keynes Theatre Monday 10 – Saturday 15 June 2024

Tickets were kindly gifted by Milton Keynes Theatre but they have zero control over what I post, or say about the performance – that’s all me! Thank you for your support. 🖤
