Considered one of the best films of all time is on stage this week in MK

On an average Monday evening in the middle of October, it feels like the skies are closing in on us all.

The perfectly dark and claustrophobic setting to be let into the Shawshank Penitentiary aka “The Shank”, where we meet the inmates that make up the small but mighty cast of The Shawshank Redemption.

The story focuses around inmates Andy Dufresne and “Red” Ellis Redding played by Joe Absolom and Ben Onwukwe respectively.

These two give powerful performances and coupled with snappy and simplistic staging, it’s hard to tear your eyes from the stage.

Based on the Stephen King novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, but renamed as The Shawshank Redemption for the seven academy award nominated 1994 film adaption, written and directed by Frank Darabont.

The Shawshank Redemption is considered one of most profound and uplifting stories of our time and I can’t disagree. A story of confinement, authority, friendship and living.

This production is sure to serve time in your minds, so don’t let it parole you by!

The Shawshank Redemption is at Milton Keynes Theatre Monday 17 – Saturday 22 October 2022

Tickets were kindly gifted by Milton Keynes Theatre but they have zero control over what I post, or say about the performance – that’s all me! Thank you for your support. 🖤
